{"id":579691,"date":"2023-03-16T12:17:08","date_gmt":"2023-03-16T19:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hackaday.com\/?page_id=579691"},"modified":"2023-03-16T12:17:08","modified_gmt":"2023-03-16T19:17:08","slug":"digital-services-act","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hackaday.com\/digital-services-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital Services Act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Digital Services Act &#8211; Information on \u2018average monthly recipients\u2019 of certain Supplyframe<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>websites<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Digital Services Act (DSA, Regulation (EU) 2022\/2065) is an EU Regulation which entered into<br \/>\nforce on 16 November 2022.\u00a0 It aims to set out harmonized rules for a safe, predictable and<br \/>\ntrusted online environment applicable to intermediary services that, among others, connect users<br \/>\nwith goods, services, and content from others and includes online platforms such as the following<br \/>\nSupplyframe websites: componentsearchengine.com; datasheetarchive.com; datasheetdir.com;<br \/>\nfindchips.com; findchips.pro; hackaday.com; hackaday.io; oemstrade.com; referencedesign.com;<br \/>\ntindie.com.<\/p>\n<p>Under Article 24 (2) of the DSA, online platforms are required to publish \u2018information on the<br \/>\naverage monthly active recipients of the service\u2019 in the EU by 17 February 2023 and at least once<br \/>\nevery six months thereafter. This is for the purposes of determining whether an online platform is<br \/>\na \u2018very large online platform\u2019 (VLOP) as per the DSA, i.e. a platform which reaches an average of at<br \/>\nleast 45 million users per month in the EU (representing 10% of the EU population). VLOPs are<br \/>\nsubject to additional requirements due to the role they play in the dissemination of content<br \/>\nthroughout the EU.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the six-month period from August 2022 to January 2023, the average number of<br \/>\nmonthly active recipients of each of the listed Supplyframe websites in the EU was well below the<br \/>\nthreshold of 45 million.<\/p>\n<p>Since, at the time of publication of this information, the European Commission has not enacted<br \/>\ndelegated acts (as mentioned under Article 24 (2) of the DSA) on the methodology of the<br \/>\ncalculation of the number of monthly active recipients, we have performed our calculation to the<br \/>\nbest of our knowledge based on the current information the DSA provides as well as the European<br \/>\nCommission\u2019s guidance on the requirements to publich user numbers of February 1, 2023.
